Committees

Welcome

The Welcome Committee provides immediate outreach to new staffers, fellows, and interns that join the Senate. Committee members connect new staffers with seasoned staffers to help them settle into their new position.

Professional Development

The Professional Development Committee empowers Senate staffers with the skills and resources to grow professionally and attain job opportunities on and off the Hill. The committee helps staffers to progress in their careers through relevant programming. Committee members provide career guidance to Senate interns and fellows who aspire to secure positions on the Hill.

Social & Community Service

The Social Committee helps members to expand their personal and professional networks by planning events throughout the year. The committee also works to strengthen ties with sister organizations and relevant stakeholders on and off the Hill to form lasting connections within the broader community.

Historical Archives

The Historical Archives Committee documents SBLSC’s history and conducts a continuing study on Black staffer representation in the Senate. The committee documents events and educates members and the Senate on the storied history of SBLSC. 

Intern and Fellow

The Community Service Committee creates community outreach programming for SBLSC members to engage in various neighborhoods throughout the Washington, DC metro area.
